Dr. Tameka McGlawn is based at the University of California, Berkeley, Lawrence Hall of Science

For nearly 30 years, Dr. McGlawn has embodied a servant and transformational leadership approach in urban learning communities in California and across the country. Having served in myriad professional roles at all levels of educational institutions, she is a seasoned collaborator, evidence-based strategist, and trusted advisor. Dr. McGlawn skillfully facilitates professional development learning and capacity-building in the areas of: implementing systems change strategies to achieve equity-based outcomes; optimizing performance of individual and organizational practices; operationalizing intersectionality; building culturally responsive pedagogy and leadership; cultivating network-community alliances through collective impact initiatives; Leadership and Learning Sciences; and Design-Based Implementation Research.

Dr. McGlawn is a proud graduate of the CSU San Diego Community Based Block Multicultural & Social Justice Master's Program, and the Rossier School of Education at the University of Southern California, where she earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership. An effective consensus-builder and action-oriented scholar-practitioner, Dr. McGlawn brings an ideal combination of research savvy, practical application, and a deep devotion to increasing educational and economic opportunities for all students, their families, and their communities.
